February 2018 - Get Out More of your Carbonate Measurements

Analyze isotopes in carbonates in the lab and the field without compromising sensitive equipment or slowing down your workday. Our Carbonate Bundle instrument set enables you to assess small samples in the lab using an isotope ratio mass spectrometer (IRMS) combined with a high-throughput carbonate device, while field data are collected using a laser-based isotope ratio infrared spectrometer (IRIS).

The Thermo Scientific 253 Plus 10 kV IRMS, together with the Thermo Scientific Kiel IV Carbonate Device, is the gold standard for carbon and oxygen isotope analysis of carbonates, producing world-class data from small foraminifera samples. With the 253 Plus and Kiel Carbonate IV precisions of better than 0.1 ‰ can be reached for total carbonate amounts of down to 6 micrograms.

For larger carbonate samples as well as measurements in the field or on a research vessel, we offer the Thermo Scientific Delta Ray Connect. This Isotope Ratio Infrared Spectrometer is designed for high-throughput isotope ratio analysis of carbon and oxygen in various samples such as calcium carbonates and dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC). With the built-in reference system and the ready-to-go software solution, the Delta Ray Connect provides a simple and reliable tool for C and O isotope analysis.
